Big Box Pro, Corpus Christi Wedding Videographer

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas break. Spring wedding planning is now in full effect. When planning that perfect wedding remember to document it well.

There are a few ways to document your wedding day. For years hiring a professional photographer was the standard, but these days there is a shift to video, or using a videographer. Sometimes people come up to us at the wedding fair and ask, “What is a videographer?” A videographer is one who captures a story on video. A videographer is very similar to a photographer, but in place of still photos, we use motion video and sound to develop the story. When you add the element of sound your wedding comes to life.

Both mediums have a very unique benefits. We encourage you to hire both. Below is a sample of a wedding highlight clip by Big Box Pro Wedding Video:
[vimeo 7980367]
This video was shot this past November at Nolte Farms, in Seguin, Texas. While watching the exchange of vows, ask yourself how a photo could capture that emotion.

In planning for a wedding video, many people think they can do it themselves or hire an amateur. This is where some go wrong. When hiring a professional wedding vendor you get the expertise that comes along with someone who has been there and done it before. Professional wedding vendors will have demo products so you can see what you are purchasing. Another major difference is the contract. If you hire a professional you will be getting a contract for the services and or products you are buying.

Enjoy, and good luck to all you newlyweds couples out there,
Derrick Perrin

Jenna & Brad Stehno Wedding Video

Jenna and Brad were wed at the Corpus Christi Town Club May 23, 2009. It was a strikingly beautiful event in dramatic red and black. The details were amazing–the programs and sign-in papers, the florals, the cakes, all so unusual and so fantastic! This couple clearly went out of their way to make their special day unique, and truly, it was like no other.

This was a good exapmle of a wedding service and reception at the same location.  The Corpus Christi Town Club was a great backdrop for Jenna and Brad’s wedding video.  They had a bast on their wedding night and were off to Disney the very next day.

Enjoy,

Derrick & Kendra Perrin

Photographer vs Videographer

Okay so here is the million dollar question?  Photographer vs Videographer, who wins?  What, some of you are not exactly sure what a videographer is?

Someone who does videography can be called a videographer.  This is just like someone who does photography is called a photographer.  What, some of you are not exactly sure what videography is?  Here is Wiki’s quick and dirty version of videography.

Videography – The word combines “video” from Latin, meaning “I see” or “I apprehend”, with the Greek terminal ending “graphy”, meaning “to write”. Its contemporary sense is rooted in an article titled “Videography: What Does It All Mean?” (American Cinematographer, October 1972).

So which one is right for your event?  Most of the time the answer is both.  A photographer does a great job of setting up the really important shots of you and grandma.  They also capture a lot of the candid shots during your event.  Now a videographer does shoot a lot of the same stuff the photographer shoots but they are able to do it with motion and sound.  If you are on a tight budget you might want to decide on doing one or the other.  In these days of You Tube and iPods some couples are looking towards video to document their day.

Just think in ten years you could be celebrating your wedding anniversary by looking at your old photo album.  When you come across that picture where you are both laughing hysterically, will you remember you were laughing at your uncle dancing the funky chicken?  I know as strange as that might sound video will capture those moments when photography will not.  Also, important events like blessings and toast are not captured on photos like they are in full motion with audio.

Don’t get me wrong I am not knocking what photographers do or the services they provide.  I just am trying to show you how the two are different.  Anyways, just some food for thought.

Take care

Working on a new web

We are currently working on revamping our wedding video website.  We would like to have it done by the July wedding fair here in Corpus Christi, Texas.   This summers wedding fair will be on July 27, 2008.

Here are some of the items we would like to showcase with our updates:

  • Same Day Edits (SDE) – This is a video of your wedding that is edited and shown at your reception
  • Credits – Opening and closing movie style credits for your wedding video
  • Love Story – This includes but is not limited to interviews of the bride and groom
  • DVD Menu – We will show exactly what you can expect your DVD menu and DVD disc to look like

When we get it up we will let you know.  If you would like to see our wedding video website now click here:

There is now an alternative for those of you who want to have a baby or wedding shower, but don’t want to have 30 people in your home.

Here at the new Big Box Pro studios we have a large showroom.  Most of the time we use this room to shoot video.  We were talking the other day about renting it out for baby showers.  So if you are interested in renting out our big room here at Big Box Pro please email us at wedding@bigboxpro.com.

New advertisements on TV

Three of our clients have new advertisements hitting the airwaves. Clean Planet autowash, North Shore Pavilions, and Peggy Banales all have new commercials that are airing, or are about to hit the airwaves..

In December we shoot and edited two thirty second spots for Clean Planet Autowash. It is a car wash located on the corner of Everhart and Holly. They have a mix of attendants that prescrub your vehicle and automatic washes that finish the job. One commercial covers the overall Clean Planet process and the other highlights the Clean Planet Card. The card is like a gift card that works at the carwash.

North Shore Pavilions will be running their advertisement on the local networks. The spot for the Pavilions showcases the living facilities and the convince of living in Portland, Texas. They have a nice setup and it shows.

Peggy Banales is running for reelection in Nueces County. Her seat is County Commissioner Precinct 1. For her ad we worked from an English and Spanish script. We shot at five locations including our new studio. We had a good time out at all the parks and areas around the county. Her spots should be up and airing in about a week.

Other than these commercials, we have been working a few depositions and legal video jobs around the Corpus Christi area. This has slowed down the process of getting the new studio setup and running. We are still working towards our grand opening date of March 7, 2008. So if you are in the area come out on the night of the 7th to 4209 Alameda. We are located next to Third Coast Surf & Skate.
