The Wedding of Ashley and Nicholas

Nicholas and Ashley’s was a classic wedding with fairytale inspiration. Celebrated in the iconic Corpus Christi Cathedral, all of the details were wrought with romance.

Ashley’s dress was of a ball gown silhouette in white with a gorgeous and modest illusion neckline, statement sleeves, and a cathedral length train. She looked every bit porcelain doll-meets-fairytale princess from her bejeweled tiara and Tiffany pearl necklace to her gorgeous glass slipper-looking shoes.

Actually, the fact is this fairytale began years ago. Ashley and Nicholas met as Best Man and Maid of Honor in relatives’ wedding. They became friends, began dating, and on the anniversary of their first date Nicholas arranged for them to ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

Ashley’s perfect palate was rose, gold, and pink, with lace accents. The bridesmaids donned floor-length gold boatneck sheath gowns with ruching about the waist, a very flattering detail for every frame.

All carried rose bouquets–Ashley’s in white and the bridesmaids in red wrapped with gold. One of my favorite details, though, was the swoon-worthy white rose and baby’s breath crowns gracing the hair of the four lovely little flower girls.

We love the Corpus Christi Cathedral. The sheer size, brilliant stained glass, massive Roman columns, and green marble backdrop make a beautiful setting for weddings.

There is wonderful suspense created the moment the wedding party has all walked down the aisle and everyone stands, all eyes on the dramatic stained glass doors waiting for them to open and reveal that first glimpse of the beautiful bride and her loving father.

The Wedding Reception

The American Bank Center’s Water Garden Room requires little in the way of decoration due to the amazing glass wall overlooking the Harbor Bridge and the bay.

In perfect continuity of style and palate, tables were adorned in gold and lace tablecloths and luscious rose, hydrangea, and carnation centerpieces, and walls were uplit in magenta.

Ashley’s impeccable sense of style and elegance are matched only by her personality of grace and mercy. Everywhere she turned she was giving thanks left and right.

And then she did the loveliest thing of all during the bouquet toss. All the single ladies lined up. But surprisingly instead of tossing the bouquet, in an act of spontaneous cherity, Ashley turned around and handed it to a very special lady, a relative with down syndrome.

Following the send-off–which included the guests mass serenading the couple with an acapella version of New York New York–Ashley and Nicolas departed in a limo this time. And it was perfect.

And, Nicholas and Ashley lived happily ever after, of course.
